How to Create a File for Uploading or Downloading from Filezilla

HOME

We have our files in Filezilla and we need to create a link that can be uploaded to a site where our products are on sale so that customers can download on purchase.

We also need a link to a Free Book or guide which can be immediately downloaded from our site.

Let’s grab a file we want from Filezilla, say a Free Book.

Find the file and book, right click and ‘copy URL to clipboard’, save that to Notepad. OOPs, not what we expected to see, is it?

I have a book I’ve transferred to Filezilla in a directory I’ve called ‘newdirectory’ and I want the URL to upload to my store or site where I’m going to sell it.

Once you have the file, rght click on it and from the drop down box select ‘copy URL’. Take that and paste into Notepad.

It will look something like this:

sftp://su112143@access-5018313620.webspace-host.com/home/www/public/New%20directory/popsicle%20%20Stick%20craft%20for%20kids.pdf

The first part of the address is the webhost name, then everything else till you get to the directory where the book is located. We have to change this to our website’s URL:

We take out the first part until we just have the directory and book

New%20directory/popsicle%20%20Stick%20craft%20for%20kids.pdf

We insert the website URL in front of this, so that it looks as shown below and that is our usable link

If you’re offering a free guide on your website, you would simply say ‘Download my Free Book but then add the link

Free Book – highlight – go to link symbol in toolbar and copy the full link into the box. If anyone clicks on this, the book will be downloaded to them immediately. And that’s the only time you’d use this on your site , when you are giving away Free stuff.

In WordPress, there is a Plugin that will create short URLS.
